March 2005, Sunnyvale, CA—Dionex now offers gradient optimization with its Virtual Column™ Separation Simulator software. Virtual Column, an optional part of the Chromeleon chromatography management software, quickly finds optimum IC separation conditions without any laboratory work.
Virtual Column uses stored data and IC-specific retention algorithms to accurately simulate isocratic and gradient IC separations. The problem-solving workflow proceeds from analyte selection to methodology options to specific case simulations. An interactive resolution map reveals good and poor separation conditions, and the simulated chromatogram dynamically updates as different conditions are selected. Convenient commands quickly identify optimum conditions that satisfy user-selected criteria. Analyte concentrations, peak shapes, void volume, temperature, and other parameters can be adjusted to faithfully model real-world applications on individual columns.
The gradient modeling option makes gradient IC separations as easy to optimize as isocratic separations. Gradients can shorten analysis times, improve resolution, and sharpen peaks. With the electrolytic eluent generation of Dionex RFIC™ systems, gradient methods are as easy to use and as reliable as isocratic methods.
New rapid deployment tools automatically generate Chromeleon control programs and quantitation methods to run the optimized separations, saving time and eliminating transcription errors. A custom recipe generator provides step-by-step instructions for manual preparation of traditional eluents.
Chromeleon is a complete software system for chromatography automation, data analysis, and data management. Its client/server architecture allows smooth scale-up from a single workstation to a networked enterprise implementation, with no software change and no retraining. The software's integrated database quickly locates samples matching any combination of sequence, sample, or result criteria, and its Excel-compatible spreadsheet provides easy, flexible, and powerful ways to report results for individual or multiple samples. Comprehensive validation, security, electronic signature, and audit trail capabilities facilitate compliance with GLP, CGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.
