On January 30th, 2007, Microsoft released its long-awaited Windows VistaTM operating system (OS). Vista provides a better security infrastructure than prior Windows products, and supports new user interface and multimedia capabilities.
Dionex started thorough compatibility testing of Chromeleon as soon as Windows Vista was released, and now has implemented the necessary changes in the Chromeleon software and its installation process to support Windows Vista. After the changes, all the major functions of Chromeleon were re-tested under Windows Vista and the necessary regression tests were performed on the other supported Windows versions.
With a few limitations, Chromeleon Release 6.80 Service Pack 3 can be used under Windows Vista. Earlier releases and Service Packs do not support Windows Vista.
The known limitations are as follows:
The Chromeleon License Server program and the Chromeleon IP Assignment utility cannot be used on computers running Windows Vista
The BootP Service was not tested because no version compatible with Windows Vista has been available
Many (mostly older) PC expansion cards are not compatible or not supported with Windows Vista
Only a subset of the instruments supported by Chromeleon have been tested under Windows Vista

As of February 2008, Microsoft's plan is to keep Windows XP retail licenses available through June 30, 2008, and Windows XP System Builder licenses available through January 31, 2009.
