Seminar topics and times for each day:

Topic
11:00
Introduction to RFIC-ER Systems
Mixing eluents and regenerants for ion chromatography is a time consuming, repetitive task that can also be a source of error. In an effort to adapt Reagent-Free IC (RFIC) system capabilitities to routine, frequent-use applications, Dionex has developed RFIC systems with Eluent Regeneration (RFIC-ER). This session will briefly outline the history of RFIC and introduce the technology behind RFIC-ER systems.
12:00
New Solutions for Routine Water Analysis
This seminar will describe new solutions for routine monitoring of anions and cations in drinking water using basic ion chromatography systems. These solutions include the latest RFIC-ER technology for increased ease of use and consistent results. In addition, determination of bromate and disinfection byproducts using RFIC-EG and two-dimensional IC methods will be discussed.
13:00
Expanding Capabilities for Sample Preparation: Sample Pretreatment, Solvent Extraction and Post-Extraction Cleanup in a Single Step
The capabilities of the new ASE 350 are discussed, including extraction of acidic or alkaline matrices and the enhanced flexibility to run various sample sizes in the same run.
14:00
Enhancing IC with the Addition of Mass Spectrometric Detection
Using Dionex's unique chemical suppression interface, IC can be coupled directly to a mass spectrometric detector. With the MSQ Plus system, laboratories have a powerful tool for environmental, chemical, and petrochemical applications. The IC/MS combination delivers new ion analysis capabilities, including quantification of co-eluting ionic analytes, speciation, and selective determination of trace ions in high-ionic strength backgrounds.
15:00
Speeding Up and Revalidating Pharmaceutical HPLC Methods
A straightforward approach to speeding up an existing LC method involves using a shorter column to reduce run time, and a smaller particle size to counteract the resulting drop in resolution. Once the user has selected a new fast LC column, the details of the optimized method can be automatically predicted by a software package. Typically, the next step is complete method revalidation, a requirement in many laboratories. We present the systematic software-assisted acceleration of an impurity profiling method in pharmaceutical quality control. Our solution allows laboratories to maximize the efficiency of existing methods and revalidates them in less than one week.
16:00
Automated Method Development with an HPLC System Optimized for Scouting of Columns, Eluents and Other Method Parameters.
In this session you will learn about a new integrated system that allows automatic and intuitive scouting of columns, eluents, and other important method parameters like column temperature. Two column selection valves in the column compartment provide high application flexibility. Intelligent software makes parameter permutations easy, without requiring method changes. Data mining tools help to evaluate results and identify optimal conditions.
