Hydrophobe Separation of Ethoxylated Alkyl Sulfates on Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1

Laureth sulfate surfactants have both C12 and C14 alkyl chains, each with a series of ethoxylate oligomers. The Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 column has less selectivity for ethoxylation when using methanol in the mobile phase, than when using acetonitrile. Here the two envelopes are simplified into two fully resolved clusters. By comparison, purely reversed-phase (RP) columns don't provide as much discrimination, and the clusters are not completely resolved.
