Analysis of Ethoxylated Fatty Alcohols on Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 in RP and HILIC Modes

Ethoxyated fatty alcohols are an important group of nonionic surfactants used in many different fields. They are characterized by the lengths and distributions of both the hydrophobic end and the ethoxylate chain. HILIC mode chromatography separates primarily on the ethoxylate chain, and secondarily on the hydrophobe. In RP mode, the Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 column has the unique property of separating primarily by the hydrophobe, but with almost no secondary effect from the ethoxylate chain.
