Laureth sulfate surfactants have both C12 and C14 alkyl chains, each with a series of ethoxylate oligomers. The Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 column, with acetonitrile in the mobile phase, almost resolves both series. Acetonitrile gives higher selectivity for ethoxylation than does methanol.
