Phospholipids are present in all biological membranes. There are several classes of theses compounds with variations in the hydrophilic end, and further variations in the type and distribution of the lipid end. They are important to life sciences, food products and industrial processes. Egg-yolk lecithin is a commonly-available phospholipid mixture. Separation of these complex mixtures have traditionally proven difficult. The multimode characteristics of the Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 column allow greater resolution and control over the separation.
