FD&C dyes are added to many popular breakfast cereal products. This convenient and rapid assay uses ion-pair chromatography on an Acclaim C18 column to identify and quantify the dyes. In this example, FD&C blue #1 and blue #2 used in a blueberry-flavored cereal are determined.
