Igepal CO890 is one of a widely used class of alkylphenol polyethoxylate detergents. The degree of ethoxylation is highly polydisperse. The Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 has the unique property of being able to resolve ethoxylation variants when used in HILIC mode. Used in RP mode, these variants are not resolved, and separation depends on the hydrophobic alkylbenzene portion of the molecule and its interaction with the stationary phase.
