Benzalkonium salts are used as preservatives and bacteriocides in pharmaceutical formulations. The Acclaim Surfactant column separates the C12 - C16 homologs of this salt with excellent resolution and peak shape. Suppressed conductivity detection is specific to ions (in this case, cations) and does not suffer interference from other (nonionic) ingredients that may be present within the matrix.
