| Perfluoro-octanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluoro-octanesulfonic Acid (PFOS) in Tap Water | |
|
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) are synthetic acids used as industrial surfactants and
surfaces requiring non-stick coatings. They are widely disseminated, persistant pollutants. Measuring low ppb levels of these
materials in drinking water formerly required mass spectrometry which is both expensive and time consuming. Through the use
of online sample concentration and suppressed conductivity detection, routine detection limits of 1 µg/L can be achieved.
