Dionex introduces two new monolithic ion-exchange columns, ProSwift SAX-1S (1 x 50mm) and ProSwift SCX-1S (4.6 x 50mm). Both are polymethacrylate-based columns.ProSwift SAX-1S (1 x 50mm) features a quaternary amine (strong anion exchange) functional group and ProSwift SCX-1S (4.6 x 50mm) uses a sulfonic acid (strong cation exchange) functional group; both are optimized for separation and purification of proteins.
ProSwift Monolith Ion Exchange columns are the column of choice when high resolution and high capacity are required for protein separations and purification. They delivery the outstanding resolving power of nonporous analytical media combined with the high capacity of conventional porous bead preparative columns. While providing higher resolution than porous bead-based columns, ProSwift columns also provide high capacity and deliver faster high-resolution protein separations than bead-based columns. The ProSwift monolith family includes both strong and weak anion-exchange phases as well as strong and weak cation-exchange phases, and are available in 4.6 x 50 mm and 1.0 x 50 mm formats.
ProSwift Monolith Reversed Phase columns are the perfect choice when fast, high resolution protein separations and purification are required. They deliver the outstanding resolving power of nonporous analytical media combined with faster separations then bead based columns. High resolution of protein samples is maintained with high flow rates (up to 20 ml/min.) ProSwift reversed phase columns are available in a variety of porosities, allowing easy optimization and excellent separation of proteins. These porosities provide standard (RP-1S), high (RP-2H) and ultrahigh (RP-3U) flow rates.
Unique Monolithic HPLC Columns for Fast, High-Resolution Separations of Proteins
ProSwift columns use a unique monolith technology for fast, high-resolution HPLC separation and purification of proteins, and provide several advantages over traditional bead packed columns. ProSwift monolith columns deliver the outstanding resolving power of nonporous media combined with faster separations than bead-based columns. In addition the monolith columns exhibit stability and reproducibility even after hundreds of runs.
These columns provide fast, high-resolution protein separations and purification using conventional HPLC techniques. The unique monolith support is a single, cylindrical polymeric rod. The monolith structure is designed and engineered to contain an uninterrupted, interconnected network of channels of a specific pore size. These large flow-through channels and essentially nonporous surfaces support fast mass-transfer, yielding high-resolution and fast separations. These channels also produce low backpressures, allowing the use of higher linear velocities with minimal loss of resolution. Proteins can be easily separated and purified at high throughput for characterization studies or for LC/MS analysis.
