Acclaim 120 HPLC column production begins with ultrapure silica, which results in symmetrical peak shapes due to extremely low levels of metals. Next, a unique bonding chemistry produces an extremely well-ordered and high-density silica surface coverage, which results in highly predictable reversed-phase separations, unaffected by secondary retention mechanisms. In addition, the unique bonding chemistries produce very high separation efficiencies and symmetrical peak shapes for a wide range of target compounds. The Acclaim 120 columns are especially useful for separating closely eluting compounds and identifying minor peaks in complex mixtures. The Acclaim 120 phases have very high surface coverage, resulting in high-capacity columns. They are stable between pH 2 and 8 and available in 3- and 5-µ particles sizes, and 4.6- and 2.1-mm-diameters, with an average pore diameter of 120 Å. All phases are LC/MS compatible because of the low silica bleed that results from the stable bonding procedure. To meet the exacting needs of our customers, each Acclaim column is manufactured to stringent specifications to ensure column-to-column reproducibility. Each column is shipped with a lot validation sheet showing the test results and specifications for the lot of bonded silica packed into the column and an individual test chromatogram validating performance. The lot validation includes a chromatography-based metals test and tests for polar selectivity, hydrophobic steric selectivity, and base asymmetry. Production columns are individually tested for capacity and efficiency, and closely monitored for metals contamination. Reproducible column-to-column manufacturing, the use of ultrapure silica, and performance validation of every column prior to shipping, all ensure that the quality of your separations will be maintained from month to month and year to year.
