UltiMate 3000 as a Front-End for LC/MS

The cost of mass spectrometers sets high expectations for LC productivity and sample throughput in LC/MS systems. As the front-end for this interface, the UltiMate® 3000 delivers high productivity and performance across the full range of sample sizes, column dimensions, and flow rates to meet the growing diversity of MS applications. The UltiMate 3000 optimizes separations for all your LC/MS applications, providing a new level of productivity and versatility.

Work With Advanced UltiMate 3000 Technology

The UltiMate 3000 series provides a variety of front-ends to mass spectrometers, from classical binary to quaternary and dual-gradient micro systems. All the benefits provided by this technology are immediately available to all users and significantly improve performance and productivity.

    • Best flow rate and gradient precision even at very low flow rates
    • Support of small particle column packings with system pressures up to 800 bar (11,600 psi)
    • Very fast cycle times. Gradient delay volumes <100 µL and injection cycle times <15 s
    • Accurate and precise flow and gradient delivery through patented SmartFlowTM technology
  • Quaternary and x2 dual micro flow systems
    • Four eluents for maximum flexibility and fast method development
    • With reduced gradient delay volumes of <350 µL, quaternary pumps can now be used as MS front-ends
    • Superior eluent mixing (compared to binary systems) provides better peak shapes and higher resolution
  • Unique quaternary and x2 dual nano, cap, and micro flow systems
    • Can be converted easily from micro to cap or nano
    • Precise retention times even when columns become partially clogged, with patented UltiFlowTM splitting and flow control technology

With this technology at your finger tips, you will immediately have solutions for your LC-MS applications

  • Use LC separations to overcome suppression effects or isomeric interferences
  • Protein purification, characterization, and identification.
  • Increased sample throughput for greater return on your MS detector investment
  • 2-Dimensional liquid chromatography for higher selectivity and resolution

Optimizing MS Applications

UltiMate 3000 RSLC systems are ideal for microbore applications that dominate LC-MS applications. Delay volume has been reduced to an absolute minimum—less than 100 µL. Run fast, precise gradient separations with the shortest possible cycle times in single-pump or dual-pump configurations. By utilizing either a precolumn or postcolumn active splitter, the UltiMate 3000 can deliver the ideal flow rate to your MS independently of the flow range in which you are working (nano through to semi-preparative).

Maximum Usability and Flexibility

All UltiMate 3000 systems can be controlled directly from Xcalibur™ (Thermo Electron), Analyst® (ABI/Sciex), and HyStar™ (Bruker Daltonics). The MS workstation sets up the sample sequences, processes the mass spectrometry data, and controls all LC modules. You can realize the full benefit of the UltiMate 3000 single- and dual-pump systems without having to learn (or purchase) a new software control application.
